To Travel is expensive. Lots can be done on zoom. How do you justify bringing together geographically dispersed teams?
At Silicon Valley Change, we recently did just that. Eleven of us got together in person to share, talk and create something together.
We found that spending a day together fundamentally deepened our relationships and changed the way we will work together in fundamental ways.
Curious how to take relationships on your team to the next level?
Want to create a ripple effect of good energy?
Interested in experiencing the extraordinary power of savoring – anticipatory, in the moment, and reflective?
MEET IN PERSON.
Zoom and other video options are great…and yet, nothing can fully replace the power and impact of meeting in person.
For the last 4 years our team has talked about how cool it would be to actually meet in person. That thought became a reality for a dozen of us who were able to convene in the LinkedIn office in NYC thanks to SVC coach Leah for generously hosting. The fun continued with a cooking class, great music and spontaneous dancing 🙂
It has taken me 48 hours to get my feet grounded enough to post about this first ever Silicon Valley Change Executive Coaching in person gathering! As I savor the time we spent, I am again flooded with all the feel good emotions.
I can’t stop smiling.
Being in a room filled with people whom I admire deeply, who make me laugh and who inspire me to keep growing is a powerful experience.
The in-person energy took what I regularly feel in their online presence to a whole new level.
Here are my key take-aways (thing we already know to be true from the science of wellbeing… and yet our time together highlighted it with a bright bold highlighter):
- Emotions are contagious – circle yourself with those who lift you up
- Your colleagues make a BIG difference in your wellbeing – surround yourself by people who raise your energy, bring out the best in you (hopefully you do the same for them!) and challenge you to keep growing (thanks Kelly for the question…What did I do today to take a chance?)

MAKE TIME FOR FUN, LAUGHTER and CONNECTION
Thank you to Senia for creating the dream team. I wake up grateful for our SVC colleagues each and every day.
To my friends who took a leap of faith to join me in the Big Apple for my wild idea of gathering IN-PERSON – thank you for trusting that it would be worth Kathryn Britton, Alex Jack, Shannon Polly, Kelly Beischel, Venessa Perry, Kimberly Dotson Brown, Stella Grizont, Leah Smart, Niels Gott, and Senia Maymin.
Can’t wait for our next one for all the rest of the SVC coaches to join!
